taylorsmith
hello all.... any thoughts or comments on the use of TCP fuel additive? I use it in my C-85 and I would like to know if anyone suggests it for the R-56. thanks, taylor
kennethchapman
Hadn't heard anything about TCP. I was told to run 12 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil per 10 gallons of fuel though.
N48748
Hadn't heard anything about TCP. I was told to run 12 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil per 10 gallons of fuel though. Taylor, Al Ball recommended Marvel Mystery Oil in my "new" engine - both in fuel and oil. I forget the ratios now; but will check when I get back to the States. You might also check with Bob Williams. From my not-very-bright comprehension of things I believe the primary problem we face is valve sticking, vs. spark plug fouling, etc. So one factor will be the material your valve guides are fabricated of. But again, please check with Al Ball and Bob Williams.
ozryan
TCP and Marvel mystery oil are different products, and serve different purposes. TCP is used to reduce lead fouling of plugs, as even 100LL has significantly elevated levels of lead (compared to 80/87 originally used in our type of engines). MMO on the other hand is an upper cylinder lubricant which is designed to (and does) reduce valve sticking problems. Both great products, but different applications.
