jpelton
Right now my starter option is to hand prop. Can someone give me some technical insight into hand crank and electric starters.
Paul281
Jack, there are two (2) electric starter options that I know of. The Eclipse Y-150 and E-80. Unfortunately they are hard to find and expensive when found. A mechanic could probably fashion a mount for a SkyTec starter and submit a 337 form to the FAA for approval. Not sure if anyone has tried this. The hand-crank works off the same mounting pad as the electric starter. You would keep the handle in the baggage compartment and it fits through a hole in the left side cowling. It is direct-drive, not inertia. I prefer to hand prop mine. Wedging myself between the prop and landing gear seems dangerous to me. Good luck. Paul Bretanus President International Ryan Club
