agrover
Calling all Ryan experts. I'm trying locate the Ryan Brougham B1, the "Spirit of South Dakota". Although not new to the aviation industry, I'm a neofite in the antique airplane realm and am looking for ideas from those of you experienced in these types of investigations. I am looking for the following: Make: Ryan Brougham Model: B-1 Serial Number: 64 Registration: NC4087 Engine: Wright Model J-5AB Serial Number: 8161 Here's a summary of my investigation to date. Most of this information has been accumulated from the San Diego Air Museum and personal research (talking to people). Date of Manuf.: 1/27/28 Sold to: Stransky Airlines, Pukwanan, SD, 2/13/28 LG Stransky, President Accident: Loomis, SD 5/11/28 Sold to: George L. Moore, Wessington Springs, SD, 11/26/28 Sold to: Edward A. Skroch, Minot, ND, 7/30/34 Accident: New Rockford, ND, 8/20/34 Taken to Minot, ND for rebuild according to newspaper articles of the day. This is where the trail of the airplane seems to stop. I'm enlisting any assistance that I can think of to locate the airplane. My friend, Bob Shultz (Franktown, CO & Wessington Springs, SD) took his first ride in the airplane and I would like to locate it for restoration. Any ideas on how to proceed are welcome.
