danmooney
I have noticed in some pictures of Ryans that some have pitot tubes that come out the bottom of the wing instead of the tube out of the LE of the wing. I was just wondering if there were PTs built that way? Dan

I wonder if if was a civilian "field modification"? Bob
kennethchapman
The PT-21 had the pitot tubes coming out of the bottom of the left wing. At least the early ones did. If you Google PT-21 there is a good formation picture of a flight of them with this style of pitot tube.
N48748
Gents, just rolled out Dwg W-1000 (wing assy); according to this drawing, snos 1001 through 1205 had the pitot mast mounted beneath bay 3 on the left wing.... Best Regards, Bob Roth P. S.; cautiously optimistic I'll have sn 1683 back in the air late 2010.
