jpelton
It just seems like when rolling out the tail wheel rigging on my plane is sloppy. Any advice on how to set it up?
cnehus
If your rudder springs and rudder cable tension is correct, I would check to see if your tail wheel fork assembly is free to swivel and properly lubed.
N441V
Jack , the bearings in the tail wheel forging that hold the vertical post are K20A sealed bearings that are probably 70 years old with the original grease. They tend to get a bit sticky. Sometimes you can get penetrating oil past the bearing seals to loosen them up as a short term fix. Good winter project is to replace the K20A and K5A bearings along with the cam follower that centers the tail wheel. Gives you a chance to remove the tail post and check for corrosion at the same time. K20A bearings are getting hard to find, maybe Chris can work his magic and come up with an alternate part. cnehus
Are you using an 8.00 S.C. tire or something else? One of our old time members brought up that some of the other tires used in the past do not handle as well. He also said to make sure it is inflated, not low as that would also make it feel sloppy.
